Dorset Down sheep originated in the Dorset Downs region of England some time around 1829 and is considered quite a rare breed. Dorset down wool is a high quality wool, perfect for sweaters, hats and blankets - and especially for socks because it has incredible spring and cushion. The sheep are raised on an eco-conscious family farm in Southern Ontario. Their wool is spun in New Brunswick and finally it is hand-dyed in Montreal. Put up in 4 oz (110 g) skeins with approximately 245 yards (224 m) per skein, with a gauge of 16-20 stitches to a 4" square on 4-5.5 mm needles.
